What is AIDS?

Sexually transmitted diseases like AIDS is a dangerous disease that is on earth. Many people in the world are very concerned about the spread of this disease. Even in Indonesia itself was not free from the threat of this disease. For that need the knowledge of this dangerous disease typical. The word AIDS stands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. AIDS is a collection of symptoms or illnesses that result in decreased immunity acquired due to infection from HIV.


What is HIV? HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. HIV is a germ or virus that causes the disease AIDS. How did the symptoms and signs? According to the CDC (center for diseases control and prevention) Atlanta, United States, usually begins with fever 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or 38 degrees Celsius. Fever is sometimes accompanied by chills, headache and feeling of lethargy and body aches. Early in the disease may occur mild respiratory problems. After three to seven days, patients may experience a dry cough with phlegm that is gradually created a shortage of oxygen in the blood. 10 to 20% of patients require breathing assistance with using the tool of breathing (ventilator).

HIV / AIDS is only transmitted through sexual contact, blood contact directly with patients (blood transfusion), pregnant women who pass on to her baby. HIV / AIDS can not be transmitted nor contagious as things like eat, drink together, using eating utensils / drinking them, touching, shaking hands, hugging, kissing, living in a home, use the toilet together, swim together, taking turns to clothes, towels , handkerchiefs, insect bites or other social relationships.



There are some people who question whether the cloud of a person with HIV can be distinguished from others. To answer this, of course not. A person with HIV will look ordinary like everyone else because it did not show clinical symptoms. This can happen for 5-10 years thereafter.

Important is also known that although people with HIV do not show symptoms, but it can pass on to others. Anyone can be infected by this killer disease through a certain way, regardless of nationality, race, sex, religion, educational level, economic class and sexual orientation.
